City Quays Gardens is a 2-acre urban park located in the heart of Belfast, transforming a former surface car park into high-quality public space.
In December 2021, a planning application LA04/2022/0262/F was submitted by Belfast Harbour proposing the creation of City Quays Gardens as part of the wider regeneration of the waterfront area. The application was approved in March 2023..
In November 2023, construction work commenced, with the park officially opening to the public on 28th April 2025.
The scheme delivers extensive green areas, event spaces, seating, outdoor workspaces, and public art installations celebrating the area's maritime heritage, alongside improved pedestrian and cycle connections. The project has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability and biodiversity, targeting 'One Planet Living' accreditation.
