Located on corner of the Holywood Road and Pims Avenue in East Belfast, The Strand Arts Centre first opened its doors as a cinema in 1935. Architect John McBride Neill designed the building, incorporating influences from the Harland & Wolff shipyard, including curved walls and portholes in the foyer.

In 1999, a restoration project restored the building's facade, emphasising its Art Deco style.

In November 2023, plans were revealed for a £6.5 million renovation of the Strand Arts Centre, with work to commence in early 2024.
