The John Hewitt

Bar

The John Hewitt is a bar located in the Cathedral Quarter of Belfast. It was Northern Ireland's first social enterprise bar when it opened in December 1999, and it is owned by The Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre. The bar is named after the late poet, socialist, and Freeman of Belfast, John Hewitt

In August 2022, Boundary Brewing officially announced that it would take over the operation of the pub. While the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre retains ownership of the venue, this marks the first time the bar has been leased to an external operator since its opening in 1999.
