The Flint Hotel, located at 48 Howard Street, occupies a historic early 20th-century building known as Howard House, which originally opened in 1925 as the Presbyterian War Memorial Hostel.
In June 2016, planning application LA04/2016/1277/F was submitted, proposing the conversion of the upper floors into 56 serviced short-stay suites. The hotel subsequently opened in 2018.
In April 2023, planning application LA04/2023/3139/F was submitted, proposing the partial demolition of the ground and first floors and the construction of an extension at ground floor level to accommodate a new hotel reception and bar/restaurant area. The scheme also included a change of use from a pharmacy and optician, integrating these units into a new hospitality venue, which would become known as Amelia Hall.
Amelia Hall officially opened in September 2024, featuring a pizzeria, cocktail bar, and outdoor terrace.
