The Loft Lines, situated in the Titanic Quarter, is a mixed-tenure residential development currently under construction on Queen’s Island.
Occupying a 3.8-hectare brownfield site adjacent to the River Lagan, the development will deliver 778 homes, including 627 Build to Rent (BTR) apartments and 151 affordable/social units, arranged across three blocks.
The scheme is led by Watkin Jones Group and Lacuna Developments, with Clanmil Housing Association delivering the affordable element. The project includes studios to three-bedroom apartments and is designed to support a wide demographic.
A full planning application LA04/2021/2280/F was submitted in September 2021 and granted full approval in March 2022 by Belfast City Council.
Construction commenced in September 2023.
The masterplan prioritises pedestrian and cyclist movement, incorporating extensive public realm including the new South Yard Square, a riverside promenade, communal courtyards, and rooftop amenity spaces. Active ground floor uses will include cafés, a crèche, retail units, and co-working spaces.
The Loft Lines is the first major BTR-led scheme in Northern Ireland and is anticipated to complete in 2026.
